Common Questions
Everything you need to know.
Why do I pay a booking fee before the repair starts?
The booking fee covers two things: secure round-trip courier transit via the Courier Guy locker and kiosk network, plus full microscope-level laboratory diagnostics. It is not a deposit on the repair — it is payment for a complete logistics and diagnostics service. If we cannot fix your device, it is returned to your locker or kiosk with R0.00 further owed.
How does the locker and kiosk drop-off work?
Once your booking fee is paid, we handle the entire Courier Guy booking. For smart lockers, we send you a PIN code — you arrive, enter the code, and place your packaged device inside. For kiosk or depot drop-offs, we send a digital waybill — just hand the package to the counter. No queuing, no hassle. Find your nearest point at thecourierguy.co.za/lockers. Your repaired device is returned to your chosen locker or kiosk once work is complete.
What if my device can't be fixed?
If our lab determines your device is completely unrepairable, it is returned to your chosen Courier Guy locker or kiosk. R0.00 outstanding balance. The booking fee covers the return transit. No extra charges, ever.
Do I have to accept the repair quote?
Never. After diagnostics we send you a transparent flat-rate written quote. You choose to accept or decline. If you decline, nothing further is owed and your device is returned to your locker or kiosk.
How long does a repair take?
Standard repairs take 2–3 weeks for diagnostic and lab work. If local parts need sourcing, add 4–7 business days. International component imports can add 4–6 weeks — we always advise you upfront if this applies to your job.
Can I send multiple devices in one shipment?
Yes — up to 5 devices in a single shipment box. Each additional device beyond the first is +R500 to cover its separate lab diagnostics. Sending 3–5 devices at the same time? WhatsApp us before booking for a customised discounted bundle rate.
How must I package my device?
Hard outer cardboard box only — no jiffy bags or envelopes. Minimum 4 layers of thick bubble wrap per device. Anti-static bag for all bare boards (GPUs and motherboards). Zero metal-on-metal contact between multiple devices. Fill all empty space so nothing slides, seal with heavy packing tape, and write your booking reference clearly on the outside. Damage caused by inadequate packaging remains the client's responsibility.
Can I walk in or visit the lab?
No — BGA Tech Labs operates strictly as a private, closed workshop facility. We do not accept public walk-ins. This ensures our technicians can focus entirely on precision micro-soldering without interruption, and keeps your hardware and personal details fully secure at all times.
